Under the Patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs, his Excellency Dr. Selim EL SAYEGH, Caisse Mutuelle Laïque – CML in collaboration with Youth and Culture Center – Zouk Mikaël organized a conference entitled "A moment for health: let’s talk about smoking” on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Youth and Culture Center (YCC), Zouk Mikaël. The Keynote Speaker was Dr. Hala Kahi, family medicine specialist and smoking cessation counselor.

This event was sponsored by First National Bank (FNB) and supported by Rotaract, Lebanon Development Union, and Tobacco Free Initiative.

We, at CML strongly believe that RECYCLING is important in the effort to preserve our environment for the future. Therefore, CML organized a conference on Tuesday the 23rd and Thursday the 25th of June 2009 for its employees concerning Recycling with the Collaboration of Arc-en-Ciel organization. The aim of this presentation was to encourage each person to have self awareness that Recycling is one of the best ways to have a positive impact on the world in which we live. Recycling is important to both the natural environment and us. We must act fast as the amount of waste we create is increasing all the time.The conference was presented in CML offices and included the following:

• Paper and cardboard recycling
• Plastics recycling
• Glass recycling
• Metal recycling

CML (Caisse Mutuelle Laique) organized a health conference on Friday the 8th of May 2009 at Promenade Hotel.It is CML second conference for year 2009 and was entitled " Prevention of cardio-vascular diseases"

It was presented by Dr.Elie Estephan who is a geriatric and in the CML family medecine network. The conference started by Mr. Joseph Akiki' s ( CML chairman and CEO) word emphasizing on the importance of attending such interesting seminars that discuss all type of health issues.

Dr.Estephan stressed on the following points:

• Cardio-vascular disease risks factors.
• The relationship of systolic and diastolic blood pressure to cardio-vascular diseases risks.
• The causes of high blood pressure.
• Diseases related to hypertension.
• The relation between cholesterol and heart disease.
• The importance of a good nutrition to avoid heart diseases.
• Physical activity that plays a very important role in avoiding heart diseases.

The conference was followed by a free glycemia test offered by "Roche" to the presence. Furthermore, the persons that were present had a good time discussing together over a coffee break.

On Friday the 20th of February, CML held @ Hotel Promenade its first 2009 conference entitled “Treasure your bones”. It was an interesting and instructive conference about Osteoporosis.

The conference started by Christelle Toutounji Saad word (Marketing and Communication Department); She greeted the presence and explained that due to the success of the previous conferences, CML will be doing in year 2009 every two months conferences about several medical issues. Then, Dr.Samir Boulos, specialist in bone chirurgy and joint from France, did the Osteoporosis presentation underlining the following:

• General introduction in order to understand the bone structure in the human’s body.
• Definition of Osteoporosis.
• Dangers of this disease.
• Ways of preventions.
• Treatment of Osteoporosis.

Moreover, Dr.Boulos pointed out that Osteoporosis can be prevented. At the end of the presentation, CML’s staff distributed a free Densitometry Bone test to all the attendees. It’s a test that is done in laboratories in order to diagnose if that person has Osteoporosis or not. The conference was followed by a coffee break where everybody had the chance to meet and discuss.

On December 16th 2008, the annual meeting of the Family medicine doctors was held at CML offices; Mr. Akiki made a briefing over this year and insisted to spread mutual thoughts.

Dr. Christa Boulos pointed over the evolution of the adherents’ consultations since 2004 afterwards the administrative council was elected:

After several successful conferences the CML organized for its adherents the last conference for the year 2008, entitled “le cholestérol en pratique”, which took place at Century Park Hotel in Kaslik on the 04th of November 2008 and presented by Dr. Joyce Kawerk Family Medicine doctor within the CML network.
This conference was sponsored by “Droguerie Phenicia”.

On the 27th of October, our consultant Mrs.Siham Sfeir got the 1st place in the CML contest; she won an I10 car as a gratitude for best serving her adherents.
